Do You Love a Blue and White Christmas theme?

I have been a blue and white lover for many years. Blue and white china, teapots, blue toile bedrooms…but, for Christmas?…not so sure about that. UNTIL, I had friends suggest we share some Blue and White Christmas decorations.

If you are visiting from one of those blogging friends, welcome!

When we began sharing about Blue and White Christmas decorations, my wheels began turning.

Black and white and red have been my colors in the last few years. I am ALWAYS a red and green fan, too. Occasionally, I have been a lime green fan with touches added in.

Some years, I have selected frosted greenery and then on to snow covered ones. Do you do that?

My collection of Christmas decorations are far reaching.

Mercury glass–check!

Tree skirts in felt, pom poms, burlap, velvet–check, check, check!

Pet safe and childproof card stock photo ornaments–check!

There are years of deers–all kinds from gray, to natural and white with silver ones.

Carolers in displays and Dept. 56 houses lit on shelves have all played a part.

But, a Blue and White Christmas theme?

Nope. Never.

Now, you have to also understand that our Hobby Lobby is moving and there is NO CHRISTMAS out until after they move August 2.

Goodness!

In fact, as I looked around in some of my favorite places last week for Blue and White Christmas inspiration…NO Christmas was to be found.

Not at Kirkland’s until September.

None at Home Goods or TJMaxx.

The shelves were empty at Michaels and Hobby Lobby and elsewhere.

So, I began shopping my home. A great place to start, right?

Inspiration hit.

I was moving out bins in a walk in closet where a great deal of Christmas is stored, when I saw him. He was sitting on the shelf in all of his glory. Quite frankly, a little forlorn.

That sweet St. Nicholas truly needed a bit of love, don’t you think. He really did look lonely and forlorn!

Years ago, I had a wonderful student teacher for a fall semester. At the end of the semester, she walked in with this gift–a beautiful blue St. Nicholas that her mother had created. He always seemed lost in a sea of red and green Christmas color scheme; but, I knew this year was his year to shine.

He has the sweetest things in his arms and hanging from the greenery. The blue fabric of his coat and hat trimmed with fur is amazing. Don’t you just love the nutcracker and sweet plate hanging from the greenery in his arms?

The fur and fabric is so gorgeous for his coat and hat. Don’t you just love that on that tree he is carrying hangs that sweet plate, nutcracker and white wreath?

He would be the perfect piece to showcase for the Blue and White Christmas design.

Home Goods had this amazing double runner with Cynthia Rowley blue and white and silver. It went into my shopping cart and knew it would make a great backdrop for my husband’s grandmother’s blue and white china.

These runners had a shimmer of silver and great tones of blues that were perfect for a Blue and White Christmas theme.

Next, came out the white lantern from Kirkland’s. It has three battery operated lights that I fell in love with at first sight. Silver and white ribbons with a bit of frosted cedar was the perfect topper.

This lantern has 3 LED candles that don’t move. The batteries are placed from the bottom. I am in love with it! Touches of frosted greenery and pinecones, silver and blue and white were easy to add.

That Blue and White Christmas scheme was coming into full view!

A large frosted pine wreath was the perfect addition to this vignette. To add a bow or not was the next question.

Simply adding silver stems in was all that it needed.

Next, I have to share my next find. I truly love swans. While I was at an outdoor antique shop this summer, this little guy was among the pile on a table.

There is a hint of blue in his finish. Isn’t he a great sleigh?

Really?

A swan sleigh? with a hint of blue? I couldn’t have designed it better if I had tried. I have a weakness for sleighs, too, and this was a beauty. He just needed a bit of silver balls for cargo.

This tray comes in a set of two from Lamps Plus. I love the beaded handles. AND those, crystal candleholders are on sale at Lamps Plus! They are a favorite!

Then there was the beautiful Lamps Plus tray and candlesticks that needed to be included. That tray was a gift at the Haven conference and those candlesticks another gift from Lamps Plus.

But, Blue and White Christmas touches were missing.

I brought out different pieces of blue and white porcelain.

It struck me what was missing!

I have ALWAYS tried to add natural elements to my Christmas decorations.

One year dried hydrangea was added. Magnolia and holly branches fill my centerpieces, tree and mantel.

I walked around the yard and there in full view were the things that were missing.

Magnolia leaves…ferns…and then there was vinca trailing in a bed.

Dried hydrangea was added to the mix. All of them were sprayed with a metallic silver spray paint.

The vinca and ferns did not do well, so those were tossed.

Magnolia and dried hydrangea are AMAZING added to your Christmas trees…sprayed silver or gold and they are stunning!

NOW I had what was missing to begin tucking in among the blue and white pieces, pine, centerpieces and wreath.

Guess what’s amazing about this? I can save ALL of those sprayed pieces until I truly begin decorating for Christmas!

Genius!

Silver magnolia was added to that Lamps Plus tray and crystal candleholders with blue and white porcelain filled with silver ornaments.

I love the mixture of the crystal, porcelain and silver balls and magnolia. The wooden tray gives it a warmer tone while still elegant. I even brought out the blue and white pillows to coordinate!

Out came the black pens to personalize magnolia leaves for place cards for a blue and white Christmas place setting. The blue and silver runner was added beneath that blue and white china.

Sprayed magnolia leaves are so perfect to personalize for place settings.

Sprayed magnolia was added to the snowy pine wreath. A perfect touch above the mantel. A stem of silver beads set off the center.

Sprayed magnolia really adds a great deal of dimension to wreaths, garlands and trees.

Silver magnolia leaves were nestled around the blue and white pieces and snowy pine on the mantel.

And then, that sweet blue St. Nicholas needed to be holding a spray of silver leaves, as well.

Can I tell you that adding those silver leaves to a Christmas tree is stunning? and adding them to your packages can be amazing, too.

So, now friends, gather your magnolia, blooms and holly and begin spraying for Christmas now!

Whatever color you choose…white…gold…silver…your choice!

I’d love to see your creations! Please share, won’t you?!

What do you think?

I am attaching some affiliate links if you’d love to begin shopping for your Christmas decorations. No extra cost to you, but this blog may benefit from your shopping. Thanks in advance if you choose to do that!

This table runner in navy and silver and wreath are similar to the one I used. I’ve also included the paint that I used to spray the magnolia and dried hydrangea.
