A Great Picnic Peach Cobbler

Do you struggle with what to make for dessert for a great picnic? If you have followed me long, you will know that I love a great picnic! A while back I shared some great picnic tips and amidst those photos was a great dessert. A perfect way to make and take a great picnic peach or blackberry cobbler. This is the one that I pictured in my 5 Picnic Tips post.

Transporting things for a picnic has always been my greatest challenge. I solved that in my tips post and I love my cobbler recipe and my method.

See how easy it is to add cobbler to a jar and pack for a picnic? Genius!

Years ago, a dear friend shared her mother’s cobbler recipe with me. Can I tell you that cobbler recipe is still the one that I reach for first? Many years ago I hand wrote that recipe in my cookbook and I would LOVE to know how many cobblers have been made from this one over the decades!

All kinds of fruit cobblers.

Our favorites are peach and blackberry.

While my kids were in, I decided that I would give this recipe a Gluten Free fruit cobbler version. It worked so well that that dish was clean at the end of the meal.

A favorite thing to have happen so that you know your guests have been made happy. Right?

This one is SOOOO easy! Make sure that you give yourself room, calories and WW points if you are indulging!

An occasional splurge to indulge!

  • Simply begin with adding 1 C of sugar to 2 C sliced and peeled fresh peaches.
  • Next preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
  • Add 1 stick of butter to a 2 quart baking dish and melt in the oven.
  • Mix together batter ingredients over melted butter–don’t stir!
  • Top with fruit on top of batter and again–don’t stir!
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour!
Love being able to pack and portion out the number of servings from placing them into jars for a picnic. Don’t you??
Ready for lids and to be packed away. Don’t you love knowing the serving size and amount with this method?
Packed these away in a cake carrier to easily transport to the picnic.
These peach cobblers were packed warm before a picnic and they were still warm when I served them since our picnic wasn’t far from home.
Give it a try!
