What 2023 Bucket List Item Do You Need to Check?
Do you have a bucket list of places you want to visit in 2023? things you want to do? new things to learn like I shared in this month’s VUE magazine? Bucket list ideas from a different point of view. This week a bucket list goal was achieved and left me transformed.
The first week in January I got to tick one of those bucket list items right off of my list! Not just the places to go…but the things in that magazine article, as well.
You see, I have been a Garden Answer follower for years. Laura’s You Tube videos have inspired me to garden and think perhaps I might just be a “gardener”. Join her You Tube channel here…You can follow her on her Facebook account here…and her Instagram @garden answer.
She has helped me to navigate my garden and feel more confident about gardening.
From adding flowers from my garden to centerpieces…
Enjoying Aunt Helen’s iris’ and peonies…
…learning more about my hydrangea…
…and working on adding more plants to our landscape.
Perhaps my gardening has been a little better because of her influence.
My use of the produce a little more refined. Perhaps what I plant a little more varied than usual.
Even the crafts have taken on a different look with her inspiration.
From houseplants to garden plants…her knowledge inspires me and leaves its imprint.
Garden Answer is a favorite.
Laura’s creativity, flower arranging, planting and gardening are always inspiring and loved here. If you don’t follow her, you need to.
Her family are part of the Andrews Seed Company in Ontario, Oregon. For years, my eyes have been glued to countless videos of Laura working her creative magic in decorating that store for the seasons, planting her home garden, creating beautiful flower arrangements and sharing amazing recipes.
While visiting my son and family in Boise…an opportunity to visit was checked off of my bucket list.
Today, as I opened her latest video…there was the store…again.
My feet had walked through that door last week. I recognized every detail and location of all of my favorite things there…from felcos, rabbits, Andrews’ shirts, gift items, snowflakes, seeds and signs…all were where I left them as she began the new shop design.
From the window decor…
…to garden statues…
The sweet little birds that greeted us…
and I was awestruck.
It’s the genuineness of a small town shop that made me feel welcome.
From the sweet staff who kindly waited on me and allowed me to leave my business card for Laura…to the gentle answers they provided as they engaged with others who walked in.
My heart was overflowing.
A warm welcome, inviting atmosphere permeated this sweet little shop.
A bit sad that Laura, her Mom or sister weren’t there…but, none the less…their presence filled every corner of that shop. Her comment on Facebook that she was sad she missed me was so precious.
What an awesome place to visit.
Not only did I carry a new memory that was tangible, I carried home seeds to plant, a sweet bunny, a calendar and a coffee mug that all remind me of being there. All that my suitcase would hold for the flight home.
Not one of the many wonders of the world of most bucket list items…but, to me it was significant.
A sharing of hearts and confirmation that those beyond the frame of my computer were genuine and authentic people.
I love that.
What’s on your Bucket List for 2023?
What do you want to check off of YOUR list?
Part of my bucket list for the year includes learning more about gardening. I shared that in my January Vue magazine article. If you need a learning bucket list chart, scan the QR code below.
Garden Answer and Andrews Seed Company are a part of that and I am sure they did they know about my bucket list of learning new gardening skills OR that traveling to Andrews Seed were both on 2023 lists.
Perhaps they don’t realize their impact of how better they leave the world.
Isn’t that what we are supposed to do?
Live our lives so that it touches others and leaves all of us better?
I hope that I can be that kind of person…a gardener of people…leaving people better than I found them.
That’s what Laura has provided for me.
And for that I am truly grateful.
Thank you Laura and Aaron and your family…keep on sharing life that reaches and touches all of us!
I’ll be planting those seeds in my herb, flower and vegetable gardens…drinking coffee from my Andrews mug…using that new calendar…enjoying that sweet bunny…and taking tips from your videos along the way.
Until my next visit with family in Boise and perhaps Andrews…I’ll be watching your videos from Kentucky.

Oh Leslie, this was so beautifully written! I am beyond happy for you having this lovely experience of going there, and crossing this off your 2023 bucket list! I love Laura too, it’s such a joy to see someone so passionate about gardening, who is knowledgeable and shares all that with all of us. I appreciate this post, and you my friend. It was as if I got to have a real time visit with you.

Oh, thank you, Dee. I wish you could have joined me there. There was something simply magical with actually stepping into a world that you have experienced only on a computer screen.

I also watch Laura’s videos and “oooo” and “ahhhh” and think I might do something and then get in a nursery and am completely overwhelmed by everything!! But you can certainly add “gardener” to your list of talents! Just as you can “see” new decor, you can also invision gardens and are willing to take up any new challenge! 2023, WATCH OUT!!

I love Laura, and although I am not a gardener I enjoy learning new things and just seeing her beautiful gardens. This sounds like a wonderful adventure. Looking forward to seeing your seeds in bloom.

What a lovely post and so well said. As a passionate Laura fan I completely understand. I was lucky enough to see her in early 2020 at Cleveland Gatden Show. Her meet and greet allowed me to see and feel how genuine she is. Laura was truly as happy to meet me as I was to see her. I look forward to her greeting each morning “Hi guys. How’s it going?” I am excited to find your Feetundermytable site as well. Hoping you have a satisfying day. Diane

“I hope that I can be that kind of person…a gardener of people…leaving people better than I found them.” This is a beautiful quote!

Thank you, Jenny. Always my heart. That’s the calling with your Bible translation…to leave a people better than you found them.
