The Perfect Gift Books for Those on Your List
Do you love to have a list of gift books for Christmas or other occasions for those on your gift list? If you know me…you KNOW I am a Kobi Yamada fan and have recommended MANY of his books. They make the PERFECT gift for book lovers for so many different occasions.
I have so many friends who have shared that kids in their families have to select something to wear, something to play with, something to read…that fits the reading for sure. You may have given your kids something similar.
Now, I know that we are all focused on selecting gifts for Christmas right now. My lists always grow each year and you know that I love heart gifts that are created or selected with love and intention.
Well…Kobi Yamada’s books are a perfect gift for book lovers for soooo many occasions.
Retirement gifts. Graduation gifts. Birthday presents. And…yes, even Christmas gifts call for something that speaks to the recipient.
Where did I find this perfect gift book?
Meandering through Franklin in my favorite stores, Hester and Cook, took my eye to the Kobi Yamada books in one of my favorite shops.
It couldn’t have jumped out at me more if it had had neon lights circling its borders.
The title of this new one?
“What Do You Do With A Chance?”
Now…I realize that many of you are thinking…why would you need a book about chances? or who else would need this book.
Well…you see…you may think at my age and stage in life…that there are no more opportunities for chances…
Right?
When you are younger…life choices are a chance.
I have grandchildren trying out for teams in their schools. Great nieces and nephews involved in activities that require them to “take a chance”.
All of us have during our lifetimes “taken a chance” with a new job or perhaps an entrepreneurial attempt.
From locations to live…career choices…college choices…and groups to join…there’s a chance that may require something we just aren’t quite prepared for.
What requirement is there when you take a chance?
Courage.
I can hear the cowardly lion’s voice reverberating through my head as I type that word.
You see…ALL chances require the courage to accept that challenge…take that chance…press in and act on it.
Yikes!
Can I tell you there are STILL chances at my age that require COURAGE.
Sometimes those chances cause us to freeze and miss them.
If you ignore them long enough, as Kobi says in this book, chances may disappear all around you.
Does that happen to you?
What goes through your head when you have an opportunity to take a chance?
Feeling foolish? Embarrassed if you step out on it.
Yep.
That’s happened to me.
As I sat at a stoplight a year ago…and as if neon lights were in front of me…an image took me into the thought of taking a chance.
Frankly, I am not a good business owner.
You want me in your shop sharing my passion for what’s inside. Salesman at heart is not a chance for me.
But, the chance to step forward in the way I felt in my heart?
Oh, goodness.
I pushed in and pressed forward.
There appeared movement and then a halt.
Serious prayer time and doubt and discussion and shared vision with loved ones happened.
But, l wasn’t sure I was still brave enough to fully embrace the challenge.
What does this gift book say about how to address your fears?
Let go of those fears.
Press in and go full in for the excitement that that chance can bring you.
Perhaps your excitement will become bigger than your fears…
As this author shares…what happens when you hold back?
We miss out.
Ouch.
Don’t all of us want to embrace opportunities “to see and do and discover”?
So what do you do with a chance?
As the author says, “You take it…because it must might be the start of something incredible.”
As we have a new year upon us…what chances might provide new starts and opportunities for you.
For me?
This blog was a chance.
Writing for the VUE magazine was a chance.
Scary? Yes…but, they both have been the start of something incredible that I am thankful began.
How about you, friend?
Do YOU need this book and message?
Who else in your life might need it?
Here are more of his books I have shared to add to your gift list:

I’d love to know what “chances” you are contemplating taking…
Pray for me as I press in and pray about more “chances” in my own life. Trust me…even at my age…there are many! I’d love to know what “chances” in your life that I can join you in prayer.
Life is an exciting and sometimes daunting journey…sharing and encouraging each other, a great opportunity.
All the best to you on your journey.
Much love to you and yours,
