5 BEST Thanksgiving Recipes

Are you planning to host Thanksgiving? or Friendsgiving? or take a dish to someone else hosting? I realize your menu and grocery shopping may be complete…but, in case you are in panic mode or just need one more side or dessert? I here for you, friend. I’m sharing my 5 BEST Thanksgiving recipes in case you need more inspiration for your menu planning.

5 Favorite Thanksgiving Recipes

1. Dressing

Whether you call it dressing or stuffing, some sort of this mixture HAS to be served along side the turkey? Right?

If you are north of us…stuffing it is.

But this southern girl was raised on DRESSING. Grandmama’s passed to my Mama and now on to us.

Last year as my niece brought my great nieces to cook for Thanksgiving dinner in my kitchen…little hands were washed and into the bowl they went to feel how “Nan Nan’s” dressing is supposed to feel when you crumble the cornbread and biscuits.

It was at that moment that I knew the where the legacy of one of the crocks used by Nan Nan to prepare the dressing would reside. It went home with her.

Although I LOVE memories and flavors of my family dressing recipe, I have shared with you the recipe for the chicken and dressing casserole that has become our favorite. A switch with Sister Schubert rolls replacing the biscuits for a wonderful result. Click HERE for the recipe.

2. Sweet Potato Gratin

That same niece has prepared this recipe for our Thanksgiving dinner for the past few years. It has just become a favorite. A different take on sweet potatoes that provides more of a savory than a sweet. Click HERE for this recipe.

3. Potato Casserole

If you have been to our home for ANY holiday…brunch OR dinner…this is ALWAYS on the menu. It’s so loved that those siblings–kids or nieces and nephews– who aren’t here for the meal get sent a photo to make them miss the gathering with their feet under my table even more! This is a “Watkins” recipe that began before I joined the family decades ago.

4. Buttermilk Pecan Pie

Last week I shared this recipe with you…but, it IS the favorite dessert for holiday gatherings. A delicious blend of a creamy pecan pie with the most delicious glazed pecan topping that will take your pecan pie up a new level. Click HERE for that recipe! This year a pumpkin roll will join the dessert offerings.
