Finding Friday -Sharing A New Gift from the Heart–Watercolors

A few months ago…I was reading a friend’s blog when a watercolor photo appeared in the middle of the page. It was gorgeous! I was smitten. I reached out to her and asked how she created that photo. She graciously shared the app she used. That’s when I knew that there was soooo much more to be created with those watercolors. Transferring my photos into watercolor photos led me to the perfect heart gifts with watercolors—cards, prints and gift tags.

You see, simple thank you cards are always needed for me…to write and I thought to give as a gift.

With weddings, Father’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, bridal showers, and graduations ahead the next few weeks…so many people could use them.

So here’s my solution!

Notes

A beautiful way to use favorite photos to make greeting cards, gift tags, and framed prints for yourself or gifts.

Pulling out those photos from when I shared our Beach visit, I transferred many of those photos into watercolor cards for those precious ones who were a part of that trip.

Can I just share another gift idea that I have created with this process?

Let me begin at the beginning…I have a dear friend who passed away in January.

For years…every three weeks we have had breakfast in our little table tucked into a nook at Cracker Barrel. It was the perfect spot for us to quietly share life…and…goodness, we shared so much life.

Our last breakfast was the middle of July. She wasn’t feeling quite right and had not gotten a clear diagnosis. Lots of health issues she had struggled with for years.

She was my encourager. My number one blog and VUE magazine cheerleader! During the years that she wrote for POSH magazine, a magazine copy was hand delivered to me at that breakfast table and I loved sharing those moments with her.

When she retired and I became the writer for the VUE magazine, she was my encourager, and it became my turn to bring copies of the VUE to our breakfast mornings.

The week after our last breakfast, health issues and surgeries took a toll and a downhill journey left her in facilities grappling with balance, reality and normalcy.

I wasn’t prepared for the call that she had left us that morning in January…and even though I will be in the pew of the church tomorrow to celebrate her life with many who will join me there…I am not prepared for that final event.

Jenna was always the one to take the photos of us together in the daffodil field, community events or even the breakfast table. And because of that I have none of the two of us together.

But, as I looked through photos shared on facebook, I came across the perfect photo of Jenna with her three sweet daughters and immediately knew that a gift to each of them with a small framed watercolor print would be perfect.

Jenna was an artist. I think she would love these sweet watercolors and sharing it with her girls.

In the meantime, your prayers are greatly appreciated for all who loved her.

Beautiful gifting and uses for these watercolors.

I hope I’ve inspired you to be creative.

What I have learned is that some of the photos I thought would be great…were not so much…But, some of my photos have looked so much better in watercolor than in original format.

Have fun making these, won’t you?
And then won’t you share your creations with me?

Here are a few things that will help with creating these wonderful Watercolors:

  • Waterlogue app– download and then just run photos you have taken on your phone through the app and save.

  • Inkjet Printer.
  • Photo Shop is helpful for sizing and placement of printing onto cards.
  • Desktop or laptop computer if you are using photo shop to make sizing/printing set up easier.
  • Plain white cards– either flat or prefolded for printing through the printer.
  • White card stock for framed prints and gift tags.

Is there someone in your life who needs Watercolors?

Perhaps framed prints or cards?

Truly a gift from the heart.

This process just continues to inspire me. Often when photos can be harsh, these watercolors seem to be the perfect way to soften and add beauty serenely.

Maybe you need a bit of serenity in your gift giving today.

Thank you for joining me this Friday. Have a beautiful weekend.
