Ways to Create An Easy Easter Tablescape
Are you planning for Easter? I can’t wait for feet under my table for an Easter brunch. Planning for that Brunch always includes a buffet area, but in my planning I came up with ways to create an easy Easter Tablescape that will add a bit of bunnies, garden and simple elegance all at the same time.
So happy to be a part of a group today sharing our Easter Tablescapes! Hope you will read through to the end and then head over to what each of them are sharing…I can’t wait!
Here we go!
Where to begin with that Easter Tablescape?
Before you can begin with planning your place setting, it HAS to begin with the menu.
What will you be serving dictates what dishes, glassware and silverware will be needed.
Once you have that complete, you can begin with planning place settings.
Begin with each place setting.
A place setting or “cover” is simply all of the dishes, silverware, napkins, and glassware needed for one person at a table for a meal.
It can be simple or more elaborate–your choice.
Tiny salt and pepper shakers are often used here at each setting to make it special.
Not always will we be formal enough to set “place cards” in some form to designate seating.
In most of my gatherings at the table, their seating choice is usually preferred.
But, sometimes, special occasions just need some formality and little ones at the table love finding their name to locate their seat at the table.
A conversation with the bigs on where to arrange them and the littles is always a great beginning when place cards are used.
You choose on which your crew needs. No formal judgment here!
How to set the table is important.
Special occasions give an opportunity for children (and adults) to learn how to set a table.
It’s a life skill that all of us need to know.
As the world steers more clear of buffet lines since Covid, there are more places where place settings are more important than ever.
Prepare your kids, teens and young adults for the world of job interviewing over a nice meal. It could matter enough for those hiring to make sure that their potential employee has the knowledge and skill to have conversations with clients gathered at a table.
- Responding to which piece of silverware to use and how to use it;
- Placing a napkin in their lap;
- Removing cell phones from use during a meal;
- Learning appropriate conversation at the table often happens at home.
If you have done your job…they will learn to look at a place setting and realize that silverware is placed from the outside in…and in the order of use.
They can actually see the menu in the silverware.
Buffet and the Place Settings
For me, an Easter brunch buffet will be served, but guests will simply take their plate to the buffet to fill and return with everything in their possession to begin the meal.
So, let’s create an Easter tablescape.
Now that we have the menu planned, the silverware needed and the place settings designed, let’s begin!
Reminders of spring is where this Easter tablescape took me.
This sweet blue bunny toile tablecloth was purchased at Home Goods. Bunnies are a great place to begin if you are a bunny lover like me!
I could have used my blue toile dishes, but felt that they would look lost among the tablecloth.
The place settings needed a bit of grounding.
The next choice I made was in selecting the woven placemat, like this one, which worked beautifully to ground each place setting onto the table cloth.
White chargers and copper silverware were pulled together against that woven placemat. It’s so fun to play and put layers together, don’t you think?
Which dishes would go perfectly for that Easter tablescape?
So. Many. Choices.
Easter screams of green touches to symbolize new life, so out came a white charger with an ivory plate, and green salad plate.
A green hem stitched napkin folded between the two added the touch of green I was needing. A tiny napkin ring centered in the green plate added the touch of “Easter” that was desired.
An Easter tablescape centerpiece was needed.
Out came the bunny to fit the bill. He has a wheel barrow in front which was the perfect holder for new tiny ferns. Isn’t he the best?
With him in place, a more garden theme and color was needed to be added.
TIP: When setting your table, make sure that your centerpiece is low enough that you can talk comfortably over it and see guests during the meal.
A change in charger and china and crystal were switched out.
This is the china and crystal that I chose when I got married. It continues to be one of my most favorite set of dishes and glasses. Aren’t they gorgeous?
The white charger was replaced with bronze ones that seemed to frame them better. The china salad plate topped the green one for layering and the napkin ring no longer fit into the Easter tablescape.
Let’s play a little more with that Easter setting.
Wooden chargers under the china and the change of silverware from copper to gold made me a bit happier. A bit of elegance with a balance of natural feel spoke special to me.
More of a garden theme added in was my next attempt in playing with this Easter tablescape.
Garden touches added in.
I pulled out my favorite Cutlery Couture Silverware holders and tucked in those forks instead of the entire place setting of silverware…still teaching those littles about table settings.
Easter Place Card DIY
Then…tiny terra cotta pots with a bit of styrofoam and moss added became place card holders. In were tucked in wire loops that could hold tiny name cards.
Such a fun DIY!
Start by adding styrofoam and moss to tiny clay pots. I have some wire cardholders that I placed into the center.
The next step in making these is just adding card stock to your printer.
Select your font and type in names spaced apart into a word document and print onto that card stock.
Cut the place cards out using scissors or paper cutter.
The final step to making them cute was to hole punch each end and run a piece of ribbon through coming out each end.
Slip the cards into the wire card holder.
How adorable?
Here’s some of the things that I found if you’d love to create these.
Hope I have inspired you with your Easter Tablescape!
I have found more things that inspire me that might help you with yours here.
TIP: The wood chargers are available at Walmart and Hobby Lobby. The copper and gold silverware pieces were at a great shop…“Pop Shelf”…for $2/piece. Great find!

Thanks, Kim. Yes! I will be sharing my Easter buffet menu…and there will be a few vegetarian items on the menu. There’s always fresh fruit and sweet pastries, but, I’ll have a few vegetarian items, too. If they can handle dairy and/or eggs there will be more offerings for those vegetarians. Stay tuned!
