5 of the BEST Soup Recipes
Are you a soup lover? A few days of chill in the air makes us still want SOUP! We are BIG soup lovers so I felt it appropriate to share our 5 favorite and BEST soup recipes with you before soup season leaves us.
It just takes a drop in temperatures and a bit of sweatshirt weather or a dreary rainy day for all of us to crave the most often enjoyed soup here.
But, honestly? We are soup lovers year round. No matter the temperature!
Recently, I have shared the grilled cheese tomato soup AND the Better than Olive Garden Toscana soup. You certainly won’t want to miss those.
But, if you are still needing a bowl of soup for the bit of chill in the air, how perfect to add all of these together in one post for you to find them all.
Here are some recipes included in my favorite soup recipe list that I thought you would love.
1. Chili
Isn’t this the one we all reach for first when cool weather arrives? As I have shared before, individual portioned freezer containers filled with chili go into the freezer with each pot made. Advantage of this? We simply can’t eat an entire pot of soup and if guests don’t have their feet under my table to help us clean the pot…that pot gets emptied by filled containers in the freezer. Perfect for evenings when time and energy are nowhere in sight. Thankfully, we reach for a container to warm tummies and hearts.
I often use ground turkey for a healthier version to make chili. Feel free to switch this out for ground beef. This recipe also includes sweet potatoes, but you can leave those out, if you desire.
Can I tell you what will give your chili a wonderful change? A T of ground cinnamon added to the pot. Give it a try. Not a true “Cincinnati Chili”, but just a bit of warmth that delights us, especially if sweet potatoes are an ingredient. Click on the title below for the recipe.

2. Winter Tortellini Soup
This is another FAVORITE soup recipe.
This one I serve when there will be LOTS of feet under my table…like a large group of family during the holidays. It makes a lot and because of the tortellini, this one that doesn’t freeze well.
But, man oh man, it’s DELICIOUS! Don’t you need this in your life? Just click on the title below to take you to the recipe.

3. Loaded Potato Soup
If you need a perfect loaded potato soup, pin, print or keep this one!
A tried and true favorite from my foods class labs, it is always one that everyone loves. Not sure where the original came from, but perhaps an Ina Garten inspiration.
Why do I love this soup?
- It doesn’t separate like many creamed soups do.
- Great flavor.
- Fast and easy does it with this recipe.
This one doesn’t freeze well, but we don’t mind leftovers and eating it again with just two of us. Click on the title below to take you to the loaded potato soup recipe.

4. Taco Soup
This recipe? My husband could have this one every week. The flavors are just perfect. Although I share my own taco seasoning, you can use seasoning that you find at your local grocers.
This basic recipe, without the toppings, will freeze well if it makes more than you can consume before you tire of it.
Just have the toppings for when you reheat and eat.
This recipe is SOOOOO good. Don’t forget to pin, print and save it!

5. Marvelous and Easy Beef Stew
This recipe is created from my roast beef recipe leftovers.
Again, we can’t eat all of a roast with potatoes and carrots…so after a meal or two? This is the recipe that makes us all happy.
It’s a comfort food that is perfect to add to freezer containers again and enjoy on cold or rainy nights when you just need warmth.

It’s really hard to stop at just 5–but, for now–I hope I have inspired you!
okay… one more for the road…chicken noodle soup is the one in the featured photo.
So many of my friends who are single or empty nesters just avoid making soup recipes because of the sheer volume so many of them make.
Don’t do that, friends.
If you are a soup lover, make and share them often.
And if you need to have friends join you with feet under your table? So be it! Invite on!
Gather, converse, laugh! All over a delicious bowl of soup.
Add a bit of homemade bread, cornbread muffins and you will be the perfect host!
Don’t miss those moments during the less cooler or rainy days left ahead of us. I’m hopeful that they are fewer and spring truly is on it’s way!
Be joyful and enjoy food that will warm souls, hearts and guests.
Happy Gathering,
