A savory Christmas favorite!

Equipment

  • Roasting pan with lid
  • saucepan
  • measuring spoons and cups

Ingredients
  

  • 3 lbs salted, mixed nuts you may add more peanuts, if desired
  • 20 C cheerios
  • 1 lb pretzel sticks
  • 20 C rice chex
  • 4 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 shakes Tabasco sauce
  • 4 T garlic salt
  • 1 lb butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  • In saucepan, mix together Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, garlic salt and butter until melted.
  • Mix together dry ingredients in a large roasting pan that has a lid. Pour over butter mixture and stir well.
  • Place into preheated oven, covered for one hour and uncovered for the last hour. Stir every 20 minutes.

This recipe is ALWAYS available during the Christmas holidays. The perfect savory snack that's been a family tradition for years. Enjoy!
Just a note-- the original recipe called for container sizes for the cereal, nuts and pretzels--and since so many sizes have changed through the years, I have measured out the cereal by cups and the pretzels and nuts by weight to help make the ratio of seasoning work for this recipe.
