Equipment

  • microwave
  • 2 fire bricks
  • cotton fabric

Materials

  • flowers

Instructions

  • Cover one firebrick with cotton fabric to fit the top.
  • Arrange flowers on the brick and cover with another piece of cotton fabric.
  • Top with another fire brick.
  • Place the firebrick on microwave turntable.
  • Microwave for one minute to begin with and adjust the time for different flowers.
***I found that most of my flowers could only handle 1-1.5 minutes before browning, which I didn't want. Each type of flower is different and white ones require the least amount of time.
  • Remove flowers and lay onto a piece of parchment paper to cool.
  • When cool, add them to a clear glass pressed flower frame.
  • NOTE: I found that the continual heating of the fire bricks made it difficult to handle or be safe for flowers after a few times; so, cooling off in between drying sessions was necessary...or changing them out with a different set of fire bricks would help.

Notes

This method of drying/pressing flowers is genius!
The colors are vibrant and pressing for adding to frames perfect!
A great idea to save memorable flowers and decorate your home or give as gifts.
