Smashed Chicken Ceasar Salad Tacos
Have you seen the smashed tacos all over social media lately? There are so many versions of smashed burgers, tacos and more that I had to give it a try. So, last week? Smashed Chicken Caesar Salad tacos hit the kitchen. And, oh, my! What a delight.
But, can I begin with the original basic recipe?
Smashed Chicken Tacos
Whatever seasoning you use for a version that suits you, you simply begin with tortillas and ground chicken. Add regular taco seasoning if you want a true chicken Mexican version. Add Asian seasonings for one that gives a hint to Asian dumplings. But, for me? I began with a Mediterranean version with a Caesar Salad seasoning from Savory Spice that was in my pantry. You can add any of you favorite seasonings to make these suit the flavor your family loves.
What exactly is a smashed chicken taco?
It’s simply ground chicken seasoned with whatever you love…and then added as a thin layer all the way to the edge of a flour tortilla.
Cooked with the seasoned chicken side onto a greased skillet for 2-3 minutes and then flipped over to toast the other side of the tortilla for another minute, it’s a quick and easy version to add complimentary toppings to the insides.
And, yes!
That thin layer of ground chicken, turkey or beef cook that quickly.
And the street sized tortillas…carb counter version were perfect.
I was amazed.
But…a Smashed Chicken Caesar Salad Taco?
When you love Caesar salad?

What could be better.
And quite frankly? These are way too easy. SOOOOO much easier than prepping the traditional taco meat and tacos.
Sold!
Just a tip though, my electric skillet was my favorite way to cook them since the exact temperature could be regulated more than my cast iron griddle on my gas stove.
They are wonderful in a nonstick skillet, too.
Here’s the recipe that I used.

Smashed Chicken Caesar Salad Tacos
Equipment
- 1 stove, or electric skillet
- 1 skillet or griddle if using the stove
Ingredients
- 1 bag Caesar Salad mix
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 12 4" street tacos
- 1 t seasoning- salt, pepper, Greek seasoning or Caesar Salad seasoning
- olive oil
Instructions
- Mix Caesar Salad together and set aside.

- Mix seasonings into the ground chicken.
- Spread a thin layer – 1 T or so of seasoned ground chicken onto the tortillas all the way to the edge.

- Heat your skillet, griddle or electric skillet to medium –so not to burn your tacos- and add a little olive oil to prevent sticking.

- Place your tortillas, ground chicken side down onto your oiled skillet or griddle and cook on medium for 2-3 minutes.

- Then flip over and cook for about a minute to brown the other side of the tortilla.

- Immediately remove from the pan and fold and fill with Caesar Salad and serve.

Notes
I have officially joined the smashed taco bandwagon.
If you don’t have taco holders, look for them among the shelves at Home Goods or you can find them here, too. Perfect solution for serving them!
If you haven’t tried them, I would suggest you do.
In the recipe, I gave you 12 street tacos per pound of ground chicken…but, you may actually get more than that. I simply enjoyed them and lost count in the making and enjoying them and sharing with those who had their feet under my table.
My mind is whirling…Asian ones next? We will see…after the snow melts and my car moves out of hibernation from its home in the garage.
And…thank you to all of you who have shared that you have tried and love the tiny tacos I shared last week…my husband is requesting them again!
Hope all of you made it safely through the winter storm and are warm in your home. Until the snow plow discovers they missed our street…I’ll be right here…cooking, writing, reading and enjoying the view of the snow.
