Parmesan Bread Sticks
Equipment
- 1 baking sheet with parchment paper
- 1 knife
- 1 ruler
- 1 pastry brush
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 T butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 C Parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Line baking sheet with parchment.
- Thaw puff pastry for about 30-40 minutes at room temperature.
- Mince garlic and add to butter. Bloom in microwave for about 20 seconds.

- When puff pastry has thawed, unfold the pastry.
- Use a ruler, mark 3/4" marks on each side so that you can cut 12 – 9" bread sticks. If it helps use the ruler to guide your knife or pizza cutter to cut the strips.

- Use a pastry brush to lightly coat each strip with the garlic butter.

- Top each strip with grated Parmesan cheese and lightly press into the puff pastry. Flip over and repeat, coating the other side with butter and cheese.
- Hold each strip on both ends and twist. Add to the parchment covered baking sheet pressing ends so that they will stay twisted. Space strips about 2" apart on the baking sheet.

- Place the baking sheet in the fridge and chill for about 30 minutes before baking.
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- When bread sticks have chilled, remove from the fridge and add them to the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until they are golden and flaky.
- Cool before moving from the sheet so they will hold their shape.
- A great addition with salads and soups.

Those parmesan bread sticks sound like a great addition to any table. Do you have any tips for getting them perfectly crispy?
Leslie J Watkins
The puff pastry with butter adds a flaky texture. If you want it a bit crispier, you might roll them a bit thinner and raise your oven temp to 400, being careful to not over brown them. You could play with your butter and cheese amounts to see which you like best. Enjoy!
