Do You Need Gift Inspiration for All Ages?
Do you remember when I went shopping in Franklin and I took you along for that journey? That Hester and Cook shop took me to a favorite gift. I knew that this is where I was reminded that some books were a gift inspiration for all ages. That little book, “Maybe”, by Kobi Yamada stole my heart that day.
As I stood at the counter and read that little book out loud to that shop owner, my heart began to swell.
Of course, that meant that I bought more than one copy of that book that day.
The impact of that book was like a neon sign for giving the perfect gift.
April is a birthday month here.
The month of May has so many opportunities for giving for Mother’s Day and birthdays and graduations.
This book fit all of those occasions.
A gift for a graduating senior.
Mother’s Day gift for those you celebrate.
Birthday celebrations for a child or a teen would be perfect.
The list became a reality of how many of these would need to be gifted!
A copy was purchased for my granddaughter for her birthday. As I read it out loud, I added her name ALL throughout the book.
At Easter, I read that book to my niece and great niece and added their names as I read it to them both. Memories created, friends.
You see, this book is the story of all of our potential…who we were created to be…our design like no other.
The illustrations were perfect.
A creative and unique design of a little girl with her pig in beautiful vignettes.
Phrases that spoke of her fearless nature and design.
Growing up can be hard.
For littles and big ones alike. This got right to the core of the fact that there is only ONE of us.
No one else compares to you.
None other who has your design in the world.
How freeing! What a great reminder to all of us!
This book grants permission to take your dreams and ideas on the journey of life with you.
It offers perspective on things you might do in your life, asking questions that give thought and conversation.
This book gives a view on what you might accomplish or do in your life. A wonderful view that lends reality to imagination.
For those little ones and those launching into adulthood and even those older in life who need to be reminded of their purpose and design in life–a perfect gift.
The next section of the book? struggles were addressed.
A beautifully illustrated section of this book talks about struggles and how there will be fears and things that will be hard. It shares that often we might make a mess of things in our life or fall down.
That we might fail.
You know, no one really prepares us for failure.
Now, this sweet author shares that part of life and how after you fail, you will get back up.
“Because there really is more inside you that you know. And this world needs your gifts, your talents, your big ideas.,” he shared.
Isn’t that the best encouragement that all of us need?
The author addresses that you may just be beginning…that you may not have even discovered all of your talents yet…or understand who you can be…or how much you matter.
Now, I loved this…Kobi addresses that maybe,
“the world has been waiting for centuries for someone exactly like you.”
Brilliant!
No comparisons allowed, friends.
Don’t try to be like someone else.
Being you is the BEST thing to be.
Now, may I share a precious memory this book brought to mind?
Early in my teaching years, I taught an Early Child Development class to some high school students. There was a competition for a storytelling event.
I encouraged those students to write a children’s book. I remember vividly the process of one student creating her story.
A prop story.
It began with a red ball.
As that story evolved, that ball saw other objects that he wanted to be like–with poor results.
At the end of that sweet story, the author ended it with, “because being You is the best thing to be.”
The result? A first place state award in storytelling!
That author knew what this book meant. She has lived out that story in adopting children and working with special and behavioral disordered children all her life.
She is one of my heroes.
Next on my list to celebrate with this perfect message.
Perhaps, your response?
Do you see your potential? Potential in others that they may not see?
Think of those in your life who need this encouragement.
Now, who will be on your list to celebrate?
Should it be daughters or granddaughters or nieces or mothers or teens or graduates or teachers or just special people in your life that this will speak volumes?
Surprise them! Gift them the book! Share a bit of encouragement along this journey of life.
It’s time to be an encourager to others who need to be encouraged.
There are many books by this favorite author. One of those books, “What Do You Do With a Problem?”, I shared with you earlier. ALL of Kobi Yamada books are becoming my favorites. Check them all out. Read them over and again and then share them as a gift to others who need them.
Oh, my goodness! In providing you shopping convenience, I found so many more books by Kobi that I had never seen or read. My list just got longer!
I may have just provided a gift idea for all ages and occasions for you. And, in the process, found more beautiful gifts. Win! Win!
Simply sharing the love, my friends!
Happy Reading! Happy Gifting!
