Adding 5 Great Fall Recipes to the Freezer
It’s that time of year when surplus of summer produce and cleaning out the freezer begins. Time to make room for more 5 great fall recipes to the freezer happens here.
Quite frankly, there are busy fall days when I just don’t want to or have time to begin a full meal in the kitchen.
Are you like that, too?
Whether there is one or 6 in your family…I promise you that spending time making these fall recipes and adding them to your freezer will make everyone happier when meals are made and ready in minutes.
How do fall recipes begin?
For me, adding meals to the freezer for fast and easy ready made meals is vital.
When we became empty nesters, it became difficult to reduce recipes to what we would eat with getting sick of leftovers.
That’s when I knew that lots of recipes that I create could stretch to more than one meal and a great relief when meals were ready to reheat in a hurry!
So, I begin with what’s already stored in my pantry or freezer. If you don’t have a separate freezer…no worries…freezer bags laid down and stacked take up little room!
Reorganizing the shelves to rotate older freezer packages to the front and newer ones to the back is important.
When meat is on sale, stock the freezer with packages of ground turkey and roasts, to name a few. Then, when you have time to make great recipes for quick and easy meals, you will be set!
There comes a time when those frozen meats need to be used and more sale items added to the freezer. Which brings me to this fall soup recipe…
Fall Recipe #1
Sweet Potato Turkey Chili is my first thing to do with that frozen ground turkey. You can leave out the sweet potatoes..but, a pot of this tucked into serving sized containers added back to your freezer will be the perfect quick dinner on a busy fall night.
And who doesn’t love a great chili in the fall? Fall soups are our favorite. Right?!
I use my tomato juice which makes is so much better…but, no worries if you buy tomato juice. Your family will still love you!
Just set aside time on the weekend and make plenty of this recipe stored in reusable containers or freezer bags–don’t forget to label and date!–and add to your freezer.
Then in a few minutes, your table will look more like this than a take out paper sack…just saying!
Fall Recipe #2
The next recipe that is added to my fall recipes for the freezer is meatloaf.
This truly is my husband’s favorite meal…perhaps a smidge ahead of the chili.
I realize some of you aren’t meatloaf fans…but, ours is a sweet version cooked in mini loaf pans that we can share between the two of us.
Those meatloafs are made in large batches of 8…making 16 dinners for the two of us! Yes, please.
Just a note…he lets me know when he thinks we may be getting too low.
These are packaged in separate containers–labeled and dated, again–in the freezer.
Fall Recipe #3
Beef stew is the another favorite fall soup recipe to have in the freezer.
When a cold night appears in the forecast…there’s nothing any better!
Again, those containers portioned to fit your family make an easy and delicious dinner later perfect.
Fall Recipe #4
This next fall recipe is an absolute favorite! Zucchini bread.
Again, mini loaf pans are used so that when those are pulled out for brunch or breakfast, it all gets eaten.
Do what’s best proportioned for your family…but, by all means place these loaves of goodness into freezer bags in your freezer.
They are also perfect when you need to contribute to a gathering somewhere else. Just set them out the day before you take them…perhaps warm the loaf in the microwave for a few seconds before slicing…and, all of that zucchini that’s available now will be put to the most amazing use!
Fall Recipe #5
And last, but certainly NOT least, is the pound cake.
Can I tell you that this is a requirement for our household? It can be an entire pound cake made and waiting in holding for the next event that needs it served…OR it can be sliced into pieces (by my husband) who uses a food saver to make sure it is perfect when it’s retrieved!
Seriously, for each piece that he periodically needs in his life, it’s microwaved for a few seconds and happily served.
Although you may not think this is a “fall enough recipe”…I can assure you that any gathering with feet under my table or someone else’s…it’s an appreciated offering!
I hope you are inspired.
Hope you will take time to prepare fall recipes NOW so that when the craziness of ball games, school events, and gatherings create chaos for you and those with feet under your table…you will be warmed by the goodness that awaits all of you in the freezer.
So, whether you need a fall soup recipe, fall bread recipe, main dish or dessert…your freezer has you covered!
Happy Fall and Fall Recipes to you all!

Hope you love them all! I don’t know about you…but, finishing anything I cook before we are tired of it is practically impossible for two of us. Then there are just times that I want to cook all day and others when I just want to grab something from the freezer for ease. All of these recipes are now awaiting that time when I just don’t wanna cook and we still have to eat! Enjoy!

Thanks, Cindy! It’s just so much easier when I have time to cook just to add it to the freezer…then I just choose what’s for dinner quickly from there! Removes the stress!

I didn’t know you could freeze beef stew! Will try! Thanks!
Leslie J Watkins
Yes, you can! So many times when there’s more left over than we eat before we tire of it–it gets frozen to be enjoyed later.

That’s hilarious! Any pot roast usually makes it to that beef stew to be added to the freezer!
