Equipment

  • Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven
  • Pampered Chef Mix 'n Chop

Ingredients

  • 2 T olive oil
  • 2 lbs. ground turkey
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 T Chili Powder Savory Spice - Peruvian Chile Lime Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 can chili hot beans your preference
  • 1 qt. tomato juice
  • 1 large sweet potato peeled, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 t. ground cinnamon if desired
  • 1/4 c small pasta like stars or alphabets
  • 1 15 oz. can diced tomatoes if desired

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in your pan and add chopped onions and ground turkey. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and 1 T. or more of chili powder and brown. NOTE: Turkey usually is so lean that no draining of fat is required.
  • Add beans, tomato juice, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, chili powder, and cinnamon, if desired.
  • When chili comes to a boil, add pasta. Reduce heat to low simmer. Stir occasionally to keep pasta from sticking and cook until thickened and sweet potatoes are tender...about 45 minutes to an hour.

Notes

This sweet potato chili recipe is a favorite for a family dinner or for meal prepping or adding in individual containers for the freezer. Although the sweet potatoes add an element of comfort food from fall though the winter months, we enjoy it any time of the year! Enjoy!!
