Give Decadence to the Menu with Roasted Pears
We love fresh pears at our house. Many of you know that my husband is allergic to all raw fruits and vegetables. He has been since he was young. What makes matters worse is that fruits are his absolute favorite. So…when pears came in season and readily available…I reached for a bag to create the most decadent honey roasted pears you have tasted. A light and delicious recipe that takes pears to a new level!
I have shared this in the VUE magazine that you can read here…but, knew I needed to share it with all of my friends here.
Just too good not to share the love.
What makes roasted pears decadent?
Simple ingredients. Feta, Parmesan, pecans, thyme, pears, and honey make for a harmonious symphony in your mouth. Top with a bit of white raisins, a dash of pepper and arugula and your heart will be happy.
Filling halved pears with a mixture of cheese, herbs and nuts, roasting them and then drizzling with honey and adding toppings has proven to be both elegant and delicious.
Where do you begin this recipe?
Begin with fresh in-season pears. Wash, cut in half and core each half of the pears.
Add them to a parchment lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle with fresh ground pepper.
Mix together Parmesan, feta, chopped pecans and thyme and add to the center of each pear half.
Roast in a preheated 400 degree oven for about 40 minutes or so, until pears are soft.
Remove from the oven and add other toppings such as, white raisins and arugula, and then drizzle with honey. Serve warm!
How easy is that?
This may even be a light dessert during holiday evenings when you still have guests.
I can even see this being a perfect menu item for a holiday brunch. Don’t you?

I have made something very similar to this when I took care of my Mom but no cheese or nuts. Never thought of adding cheese to it. This is going to take it to another level.
Your sharing this recipe is appreciated.

UPDATE:
Made and eaten in one sitting. It was my dinner & dessert. My neighbor made a run to the grocery store after eating hers.
I don’t like Feta cheese so I used champagne cheese and the parmesan – totally delicious!!!

They are as good to eat as they look. Just trying to figure out which menu to add them to for the holidays…I think Thanksgiving, but brunch on Christmas morning may need to have these, too.
