Dream Home Gives Us New Inspiration
Do you have a St. Jude’s Dream Home near you? Our local Dream Home project is coming to an end with the giveaway soon. Each year I contribute to St. Jude’s either with a Dream Home ticket purchase or just in our contributions budget.
There’s still time to visit this year’s local St. Jude’s Dream home in Grand Rivers, KY.
For the past four years one of my former students has been the general contractor of our local St. Jude’s Dream Home. I’m so proud of him for choosing to be a part of this Dream Team build.
This year when I walked up to the front door, I knew this was his best yet.
The foyer drew you in….from the arched doorway to the high ceilings that gave you a feeling of expanse.
The quality was impeccable. The 10′ ceilings gave a depth that took my breath away.
An open plan format, with perhaps a smaller 2500 sq. ft. floor plan did not disappoint. It was perfect.
I was in awe of the ceilings, door frames, crown molding and woodwork.
From the paint colors to the stonework and built in selections, it was all spot on.
Dream Home Inspiration
Inspiration was met in every room.
So much inspiration that my heart knew that I needed to share it with you.
It began with that beautiful exterior…and I’m always a lover of gas lights on exteriors of homes.
Dream home inspiration with all of the woodwork throughout…
A beautiful seating area and hooks for bags and coats was across from the double garage entrance to the house. Perfect for tucking shoes beneath the bench and dropping off totes and bags as you enter.
In love with the porcelain brick flooring that led to the most beautiful woodwork in the laundry room. Lighting, sink and wallpaper invited you in to enjoy even the most mundane of tasks in that room. I’d be lingering here if this were my laundry room, wouldn’t you?
The walk in pantry with the most gorgeous cabinetry took my breath away. Can’t you imagine it filled and organized?
Even the half bath was finished with the most beautiful woodwork, gold touches and lighting. That mirror actually is from Kirkland’s and gave such a high end look to the guest bath.
Dream inspiration was heightened in the master suite.
From the sweet serenity on a separate side of the home, the bedroom opened onto a private balcony tucked into the woods.
Can you imagine mornings here?
On this private balcony overlooking the woods would be where I had coffee and quiet time every morning. Are you picturing yourself in this home yet?
The master bathroom with a tub and huge double shower with arched doorways was breathtaking.
The arched mirrors opposite of the tub and shower blended beautifully.
With a huge walk in closet between those sinks, the arrangement was perfect. Space for each to not be interrupted and move easily in this large suite.
Even the separate commode area was beautiful. I loved the floor and light…but think a window covering would be added for privacy here.
The kitchen was definitely dream home inspiration at it’s best.
Gorgeous lighting, appliances and cabinetry made this kitchen one for your dream home.
So much inspiration in this room. A mixture of cabinetry and shelves gave a designer, yet functional feel to the room. So much to love from the pot filler, island, ceiling, and appliances were divine.
Need a bit more inspiration?
How about leaving the open space kitchen and living area and stepping out onto a covered porch with a cathedral ceiling???
Then there’s the office.
Open beamed and high ceilings with great lighting would make the perfect place for a home office, right?
And if you don’t need an office…perhaps another bedroom or craft room or nursery might be enjoyed in this room.
In that same hallway you will find two more bedrooms and a full bath.
A separate wing from the main bedroom suite giving privacy.
How’s the inspiration from this Dream Home going?
Every detail with accessories, paint and design were lovely.
Sometimes inspiration just seems better when you are immersed with a walk through..
Right?
You still have time to tour this home before it’s given away September 10.
And even though tickets are sold out for this year’s home…it’s never too late to make a donation to support St. Jude’s.
If you missed last year’s tour, you can click here for more inspiration.
Thanks, James, for once again with your team creating the most incredible St. Jude’s Dream Home. As always, you have created an even better home than before.
It’s inspired me…hope it has you, too.
Thank you for joining me today…hope you enjoyed touring with me!
Have a great Labor Day weekend!

What a beautiful home! I love that it’s so pretty and has a peaceful feeling.
Often showhomes are a little over the top but this one is just right. 🙂

I know…being about to walk through that home made you feel a warm embrace. Always love open houses…but this Dream Home took it to a more loved level this year.

Isn’t this years dream home breathtaking? This is such a great way to help the children. Gotta say James Mitchell Construction continues to do excellent workmanship. So proud of our cousin!
Leslie J Watkins
I didn’t know James was your cousin. He’s one of my favorite former students married to a favorite former student…and he just knocked this year’s Dream Home out of the park! Gorgeous!
