Do You Need Pause for Inspiration?
Good morning, friends. The past two weeks have proven to be a flurry of deadlines and overwhelming activity here. Has it been that way for you? I have needed to pause for a bit of reflection and inspiration.
I’m so sad for the loss of the Queen this week like many of you are. My last semester of my master’s degree was spent at Queen’s College in London one summer and I feel a kindred heart with that country in so many ways. My days there always were with tea and often a great Scottish shortbread that inspired the one that I have shared with you. English tea happens here on many afternoons. A wonderful tradition that gives time to pause and give your body a bit of rest.
Are you giving yourself time to pause and rest? To give opportunity for a bit of reflection and inspiration?
I’m trying to stop in the midst of the crazy and look at things that truly are important in the scope of things.
Maybe some of you need to join me in that quest.
As the season appears to wind down in some ways…there are other areas that are on fast forward here. Is that happening with you, too?
There’s the garden winding down…
That garden is slowing down with its bounty of tomatoes and peppers. I have truly loved the produce and the inspiration that they have provided me.
From preserving tomatoes, pepper jelly, pepper jelly dip and even the DIY centerpiece that I’ve shared…the inspiration has been unlimited.
This week I shared my success with candied jalapenos. So very happy to have them in my pantry.
My herbs are desperately trying to end their season with chives blooming, basil trying to flower and mint and lemon balm struggling.
The chives reminded me that a charcuterie board with those chive flowers and herbs need to happen soon.
I’ll be creating pesto this week to try and salvage the basil before it wins in the battle to end its season’s best.
Fall decorating happening here!
I have finally gotten into the mood to move in all things fall into places and spaces inside and outside the house.
The glaring problem has been that throughout the moving of furniture and still rearranging rooms after the fire, deep cleaning was direly needed.
I’ll be spending time in each room cleaning before I add those fall touches to each room.
That brings me to a new post on Friday with the reveal of fall home tour of at least one room of the house…you’ll need to come back and not miss it.
New decorating ahead!
Another great recipe for fall will be here on Tuesday.
A favorite that I hope you will love and pin to your Pinterest recipes.
Today brings more food inspiration as we have tickets for the Recipes on the River event downtown. Great chefs will share a few hours of food and their inspiration for creating them. We can’t wait!
Since I’m leaving soon, I’ll make this one short…here are few things that I found for fall inspiration on the web this week.
May you find time to pause and reflect and prioritize things. Then don’t forget to look and listen for the inspiration all around you.
It’s there if we only take time to pause and listen.

Sit down and rest with a cup of tea. And see you soon!

Pausing and resting and being still is a necessity! Thanks for the reminder.

Yes. So, often we miss the stillness and beauty all around us.

I took a pause and enjoyed life without the stress of rushing to get stuff down. Sometimes it’s good to slow down the pace.
I was so sadden about the Queen. We would catch the news when available. I always admired her.

I can’t wait to hear about your trip. I am so glad you paused and enjoyed it. You needed that so very much.

Leslie, I could not agree more about the Queen. I have been glued to the tv for the last 10 days. I am exhausted and I cannot imagine how her family feels. Can you even imagine public mourning and running hither and yon for 10 days while your heart is broken?
Thank you for sharing my soup!
I cannot wait to make your candied jalepeno! Not for me but for my husband.
Have a great week my friend. xo

The mourning for a monarch is so much an ordeal that doesn’t allow for personal grieving. Hopefully, they will be allowed to have that private space to do that now. Always love sharing your great recipes. I hope that your husband loves the candied jalapenos. I am not a jalapeno fan, but I truly love these.
