In reply to Sarah. Who knew? I have canned them successfully with butter. Perhaps, if you feel more comfortable, cook the apples without using the butter and can them...then when you use them, add the butter. OR! Just add them to your freezer which should work beautifully and make you more comfortable. Thanks for sharing..

One of my favorite meals is a bowl of brown beans and ham, cornbread, fried potatoes and fried apples. Its the ultimate comfort food meal for me in the fall!
I was looking up how to can them and all I could find was that it is not safe to can them because the butter prevented them from being truly safe. I dont know.
